Now while all good and done you need to start fundraising for your participation in the event because having sponsors like an Indy 500 racer is great ...having more than one donation is way better.
So you do what all good politicians do...hold a fundraiser at your home.
My idea is simple but, you may not be up to cleaning your home and inviting people over for dinner so they can pledge ten dollars to support you.
Yet, that is exactly what you need to do.
My version is a little different, I usually ask someone else to help in ...you know entertainment so you aren't just trapping your coworkers and friends inside your house to ask them for money.
Hire a chef from Kitch It if you have an open kitchen, have said friends and coworkers arrive and let them watch a chef cook their meal ...we all watch food network..why not watch a REAL LIVE Chef cook while you ask them to fill out a pledge form?
Okay that no good because your kitchen is a closet and you put all your shoes in the oven? Next idea is host a trunk show or candle making or jewelry ..anything that will help your future pledgers give you money....
even Trivia Night! Cards Against Humanity with a bottle of wine!
Oh and you don't need 50 people to come all at once try 5 parties of 10 people or less sincerely, you can also ask people you know whom do various home based selling of tupperware or a yoga instructor usually they will do an in kind donation so you can collect the pledges.
What about a Tarot Card reading or simple movie night ? Really make an excuse for people to come over and you can ask for a pledge.
Trust me I have lots of bottles of wine and you'd be surprised whom is up for a Settlers of Catan battle.
